The Louisiana Real Estate Commission has opened renewals for all licensees. There are two ways to renew – online or by paper submission. To expedite the processing of your renewal and the issuance of your license, certificate, or registration, we recommend that you take advantage of the online renewal process. Online renewals are easy to complete and you can pay via credit card or ACH through our secure processing system. Your secure online renewal can be found by following these steps:

·        Visit https://portal.lrec.gov/

o   If you do not know your User ID, you can look it up at https://portal.lrec.gov/Home/ForgotUserId

o   If you do not know your password, you can reset it at https://portal.lrec.gov/Home/ResetPassword

·        Once you have logged in to the portal, select “Renew License” from the sidebar

If you have more than one individual license, you must click “view” next to the license you are renewing on the portal homepage before you see the sidebar with the option to renew.

Individual broker license and broker company license are two separate licenses, and each requires renewal. Links to renew will be found in the MyLREC Portal for each license. You must log in to both MyLREC Portals to complete the separate license renewals. You will have a separate user ID and password for each license.

PLEASE NOTE: Current licensees DO NOT need to complete the fingerprint-based criminal history review (background check) process to renew their license. Only initial license applicants and current licensees upgrading to a broker license will be required to complete this during the application process.

Paper Renewals
If you would prefer to fill out a paper renewal, you can print one from your portal. Follow the steps above to log in to your Portal. Once logged in, select “Renew License” from the sidebar. You will be given options to either renew online or print a paper renewal. Select “Print Paper Renewal” to access your personalized paper renewal form.

Renewal Deadlines
To be considered on time, renewals must be received or postmarked on or before September 30, 2023. Renewals completed after this date will be subject to the following delinquent fees:

($50 delinquent fee for active and inactive licensees)
  • Second Delinquent Renewal Period: November 16, 2023 – December 31, 2023
($50 delinquent fee for inactive licensees; $200 delinquent fee for active licensees)
  • NOTE: If your license was issued January 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023 you must renew prior to September 30, 2023, to avoid delinquent renewal fees.

·        NOTE: If your license was issued on or after September 1, 2023, you must renew no later than December 31, 2023, but you will not be subject to any delinquent fees.

Did you complete your Continuing Education?
The continuing education (CE) requirement of 12 hours for active license renewal remains in place and must be completed by December 31, 2023. You may renew your active license prior to completing your education. Failure to complete CE by the December 31 deadline will be considered a violation of LREC law and rules and you will be subject to a fine.
